WHAT IS HOT YOGA?

  • Our Hot yoga derives from the Barkan Method of hot yoga, and is a slower moving class practiced @ 37 degrees C to allow you to go deeper into your body.

  • We hold postures slightly longer in this style of class to allow you deepen the practice, the warmth aiding connective tissue and muscle lengthening. The heat provides an intensity to the practice, increases heart rate and blood flow around the body. Be prepared to sweat, stretch, smile and feel the benefits inside and out- greater resilience, increased immunity, healthy glowing skin and increased suppleness!

WHAT IS POWER VINYASA YOGA?

  • Our Power Vinyasa style of yoga is energetic and dynamic, practised in 28 degrees C. Vinyasa means to link, and we link breath and movement in this slightly faster paced class. The heat is though our FAR infrared heating panels, which have powerful healing qualities and assist in detoxification

  • Our classes are specially sequenced to encompass the elements of Earth, Water, Fire and Air.

  • Be prepared to be physically and mentally challenged, and feel more harmonious inside and out!

HOW DO I BOOK ONLINE?

  • Create a RISE YOGA account with Mind Body Online through either the Mind body Connect App or our website. This will only take a couple of minutes.

  • Register for the package of your choosing (trial, casual, class pack, membership) and you can go ahead and book in for classes.

  • We recommend booking for all evening classes, and whilst not generally necessary to book for the morning classes, is a good habit to be in to cement your commitment.

IM NOT FLEXIBLE ENOUGH FOR YOGA!!

  • This is the best reason to start a yoga practice! For most of us, we are very tight when we begin a yoga practice (depending on athletic, work and genetic background).

  • With a regular practice your body will begin to change and open up. Yin yoga is a fantastic compliment to the more yang styles of yoga.

WHAT IS THE BEST YOGA FOR ATHLETIC RECOVERY?

  • This depends on your goals and sport, but generally we recommend YIN for deep connective tissue stretch and rebalancing hormones depleted by repetitive high intensity training.

  • HOT YOGA is also fantastic for a deep stretch, and incorporates more pranayama to deepen lung volumes.

  • YOGA SCULPT is fantastic for strengthening the supporting muscles of the spine, shoulders and hips, fantastic for injury prevention in running based sports.

I AM PREGNANT, CAN I STILL DO YOGA?

  • Absolutely. We recommend consulting your physician, as each pregnancy can be different. Yin, Powerflow, Sculpt and Align are all generally fine throughout pregnancy.

  • Many women are fine to continue HOT yoga after the first trimester if they were already regularly practicing hot yoga, though we absolutely recommend discussing with your physician.

I DON’T WANT TO BUY A YOGA MEMBERSHIP AND A GYM MEMBERSHIP...

  • Rise Yoga offers a diverse range of classes that has all bases covered, including a run group for our cardio junkies!

  • For those hesitant to leave the weights room behind, we have YOGA SCULPT which is a strength based yoga class using weights and other equipment, working on core, legs, glutes, arms and everything in between, to tone and strengthen, as well as provide the strength base you need to work towards more advanced poses.

  • The more Yang practices (Power, Hot) build strength and cardiovascular fitness, and are as physically challenging as any other form of exercise. There are always ways to modify and intensify your practice to take you to the next level of fitness.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I PRACTISE YOGA?

  • A regular yoga practice requires discipline, commitment and consistency.

  • We recommend a practice of between 3 to 6 times a week, which will start to produce results quickly.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF A RISE YOGA MEMBERSHIP?

  • If you are practicing 2-3 times a week, we recommend a membership to keep your costs at minimum. We offer 3 and 12 month membership options. As a part of the Rise Tribe, you have access to special free events and clinics, as well as 10% off regular workshops, and inclusion in our Rise Tribe closed Facebook group.

WHY ARE THE ROOMS HEATED?

  • We heat the rooms in many (but not all) of our classes, as traditionally yoga is practised in a warm environment, replicating the humid and high temperatures in India, where it began.

  • The heat encourages greater opening in the body, allowing connective tissue, muscle and tendon to become more tenable.

  • We use FIR heating, which is the closest heating source to the Sun’s raise. FIR heats the surfaces in the room via radiant heat, and in this way is a much more tolerable heat than air/ blow heating.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF INFRARED HEATING?

  • As the infrared rays penetrate deep into the body, the body experiences an increase in blood circulation as well as an increase in the levels of oxygen and white blood cells in the your blood. It also stimulates the production of collagen (a building block for human tissue) and helps your body get rid of toxins by causing you to sweat.

  • As a result, you will experience the benefits of a stronger immune system, improved cardiovascular health and a faster ability to heal from soft tissue injuries, such as tears, pulls and sprains.

WHY ARE THE STARTING TIMES SO STRICT?

  • Classes start at the specified time, and our studio door is locked at the beginning of class. This is to ensure that everyone has the best experience, and can be free from external distraction. Please aim to arrive no later than 5 mins prior to the start time, to avoid disappointment.

CAN I CLAIM THE COST OF MY YOGA CLASS THROUGH MY HEALTH INSURANCE PROVIDER?

  • Soon you will be able to claim some of Rise Yoga’s classes on Private Health insurance.

  • Studio owner Rosie is a practicing sports physiotherapist, and in some cases a form provided by your health insurance company is provided and can be filled out by Rosie at the studio. We will soon have more options available.
